Why Study The Bible...

For us Christians, it's important to know about our faith. We need to be prepared as the blog post below indicates, but we also need to grow spiritually, both as individuals in the body and together as the one unit - the Church. There are a number of venues for that. There is personal study. There is Christian or Bible college. And there is the Church itself. Some of the most valuable spiritual knowledge can be gained by studying side by side with your brothers and sisters in Christ. There is a vast amount of spiritual experience to be mined at church. That's why I would suggest that you look into attending an adult Sunday school class or Bible study at you church. Christian spirituality is intellectually based. It's more than a feeling. It's a knowing. How can you know anything unless you study and learn. Paul put it this way in Ephesians 4:11-16:

11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

A properly functioning New Testament style church requires instruction to be able to go where Jesus want it to go. Studying the Word of God is your ticket to go on that ride. As God's saints, we have to be prepared. You can do that in Sunday School.

See ya tomorrow right? OK.
